Randolph Bowman, Principal Flutist of the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra since
1990, is originally a California native. He received his musical education at
the New England Conservatory of Boston, where his teachers were Julius Baker and
James Pappoutsakis. After graduating he embarked on a successful freelance
career, performing with New England’s premiere ensembles, including the Boston
Symphony Orchestra, the Boston Pops, Boston Ballet and Opera orchestras, the
Handel and Haydn Society, the Portland (ME) and New Hampshire Symphony
Orchestras.
During his tenure as Principal flute of the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra,
Mr. Bowman performed at many major music festivals and concert halls throughout
the United States and Asia under the baton of John Williams. Prior to his
appointment in Cincinnati, Mr. Bowman was a member of the famed Orpheus Chamber
Orchestra, appearing with them regularly at Carnegie hall and on frequent tours
of major European capitols.
In recent seasons, he has performed as guest Principal Flutist with the
Boston Symphony, the Pittsburgh Symphony, and the St. Louis Symphony. Since its
inaugural season in 1990, Mr. Bowman has also been Principal flutist of the
American Symphony Orchestra during its residency at the Bard Music Festival in
New York.
Mr. Bowman premiered and recorded many new chamber works while a member of
Collage New Music, the contemporary music ensemble of the Boston Symphony. Last
season he created the world premiere recording of the Concerto for Flute and
Orchestra by Pulitzer Prize winner John Harbison at the composer’s behest.
Mr. Bowman currently serves on the faculty of the University of Cincinnati,
College-Conservatory of Music. He lives in Cincinnati with his wife and three
children.

Tim Carey, from Chelmsford, England enjoys a career full of variety, as solo performer, chamber-music player, orchestral keyboard player and teacher. His early studies were with Harold Parker, Louis Kentner,
and then, at the Royal College of Music, with Kendall Taylor, David Parkhouse, and Bernard Roberts. He was awarded many prizes and scholarships during his time there, both in and outside college.
He now spends his time partnering many different instrumentalists, especially flautists, in a large variety of chamber-music combinations, as well as giving the occasional solo recital or concerto performance. He is the regular
pianist for the Flutewise series, and many other flute events in England, America and elsewhere. As orchestral keyboard player he has worked in the past with the London Symphony Orchestra, the Bournemouth Orchestras,
the Philharmonia and currently with the Ulster Orchestra in Northern Ireland. He is much in demand as a teacher throughout Essex.
Piano playing has taken Mr.Carey all over Britain and Europe, as well as Israel, Malta,Russia,Scandinavia and regularly to the U.S.A, where he has become the regular pianist for the“Wildacres” flute course in North Carolina,
the Cincinnati Flute Symposium as well as several other flute events. Last year he made a tour to Texas and Australia with the British jazz composer and flautist, Mike Mower. He also made his first visit to Japan and a tour of the
US with another British flautist, Clare Southworth, and at Easter of last year he was the visiting pianist for the Australian flute convention, playing with flautists from all over the world. Last May he made a return visit to Kuwait
where he gave a solo recital. Next year there are return trips planned to America, the Far East and Kuwait, amongst others.
When not actively involved in musical pursuits, Tim still finds time for his other interests which include languages, restoring cars and flying.

Ms. Felber holds degrees from the University of Michigan and Bowling Green State University and has taught on the faculties of Ohio University and Wright State University.
In addition, she has held residencies on four continents and has
performed solo and chamber music in Australia, Hong Kong, Mexico, France,
Switzerland, Poland, Republic of China and the United States. A member of
the Detroit Contemporary Chamber Ensemble for six seasons, Ms. Felber has
also been a member of several touring chamber music ensembles, including
the Felber/Century Flute and Guitar Duo and the Syrinx Flute and Harp Duo.
Active in the National Flute Association, she was recently elected to the
Board of Directors and served as the 1993 Program Chair for the Boston
convention. She has performed at numerous flute festivals across the
continent and is a frequent master class clinician at many colleges and
universities throughout the United States and Europe. She is currently Professor of flute at the University of California, Santa Barbara and Principal Flute with the Santa Barbara Grand Opera.
Ms. Felber has released world premiere recordings for Centaur Records, CRI and Neuma Records. In addition, her flute duo, ZAWA! has released their
premiere duo CD on the Neuma Records label.

Dr. Bradley Garner holds degrees from West Texas State University and the Juilliard School. He is currently Professor of flute at the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music. In addition, Dr. Garner is active as soloist, teacher, and recording artist in the New York area. He has performed with the New York Philharmonic and is currently principal flutist with the Atlantic Sinfonietta, New York Virtuosi and Virtuosi Quintet. He has given numerous
master classes in Korea, Japan, Canada and throughout the United States. Dr. Garner has recordings on the Koch International Classics, Capstone Digital, and Golden Crest Digital labels. In addition to his duties at CCM, Dr. Garner is also on the faculty at Juilliard Pre-College Division.

The versatile Swedish flute player Göran Marcusson had his
first flute lessons in Södertälje, Sweden. In 1992 he received his soloists
diploma after studying with professor Gerhard Schaub at University of
Gothenburg. The same year he was awarded a handmade flute of Waterford Crystal
for his outstanding performance in the master class of James Galway, who brought
him as a duo partner for a performance on television.
In 1987 he was the first prize winner of the National Flute
Association, USA, Young Artist Competition, which was later followed by prizes
in Vienna Music Competition 1992, Bodensee Music Competition 1991 and an award
at the Crusellweek in Finland 1991. This has made him a frequent guest at
colleges, universities, flute symposiums and festivals around the world, very
often including popular master classes with his Swedish music in focus.
The interest he takes in Swedish music is well documented in
his recordings "The Swedish Romantic Flute" with the strings of
Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, and "The Nordic Flute" with Camerata
Roman. With his duo partner Joakim Kallhed he has recorded classical flute
repertoire and "American Sonatas" . His latest CD "Reflective
Flute" with GöteborgsMusiken includes both light classical music and jazz.
Göran Marcusson has played as guest principal flute with The
Gothenburg Opera, Finnish Radio Symphony Orchestra, and London Symphony
Orchestra. He is currently playing with GöteborgsMusiken Chamber Orchestra in
Sweden. Places he has visited as a soloist includes Lima, Peru, Mexico City,
Chicago, Carnegie Hall, New York and Wigmore Hall, London. Since 1997 he is
every year among the family of artists in the Newport Music Festival in USA.

Jack H. Wellbaum, Adjunct Professor of Flute. BM, BSMEd,
College-Conservatory of Music. Studied flute with Robert Cavally. Formerly first
flute of Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra. Solo flute, Cincinnati Summer Opera
Orchestra. Retired after 40 years with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra having
served as solo piccolo and Personnel Manager. Faculty member, Miami U. 1962-72.
Received Distinguished Alumni Award from College-Conservatory of Music in 1985.
Has appeared as soloist and panelist at conventions of the National Flute
Association. Co-author of a recently published book, Facing the Maestro: A Guide
to Orchestral Auditions. Faculty, CCM since 1960.
