Symposium 2008

The Symposium presents an opportunity for participants to rehearse, take lessons, participate in Master classes, and perform in recital with some of the nation's most celebrated flutists. Participants and performing auditors are chosen by taped audition. Every age and performance level is encouraged to apply.

The 7 days will focus on all aspects of performing, including solo repertoire, technique, chamber music, orchestral literature, and piccolo technique. In addition, several leading flute manufacturers will exhibit their instruments for attendees to view and try. At the end of the Symposium, attendees vote on the top three performing participants based on the 6 days of Master classes. Prizes of $750, $500, and $250 are awarded. The winners will perform in the Gala Closing Concert on the last Sunday afternoon of the Symposium.
